PROGRAMS

Early Head Start

Serving children 0-3 years of age: Provides intensive, comprehensive child development, and family support services to low-income infants, toddlers, and their families.
 

Head Start Preschool

Serving children 3-5 years of age: Helps children get ready to succeed in school and life through learning experiences tailored to their current needs and abilities. 
 

Home-Based Program

Serving children 0-3 years of age: Provides help to children and their parents in their own homes by using parent-child interactions, daily routines, and household materials.

 

We offer a comprehensive interdisciplinary program designed to foster optimal growth and development in children aged 0-5, so they can reach their full potential. As an educator in our department, you can create your own classroom environment and watch young minds grow and develop over time! 
 

ECE ASSOCIATE TEACHERS

Education Required:
  • 12 ECE college units
  • Targeted, job-related education with study in a job-related area
 
Experience Desired:
  • Job-related experience working with children is desired.
 
Permit Required:
  • Child Development Associate Teacher Permit.
 

ECE TEACHERS

 
Education Required:
  • Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in a job-related area
  • Completion of an AA degree
  • Additional 6 units in infant/toddler development required for Early Head Start positions
 
Experience Required:
  • Job-related experience working with children is required
 
Permit Required:
  • Child Development Teacher Permit 
 

Additional Requirements for all ECE positions:

  • Valid Driver’s License and evidence of insurability
  • First Aid and CPR certificate or obtain it within 90 days of employment
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
  • Obtain Certificate of Clearance (COC) through CTC
  • Tuberculosis Clearance
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Verification

  • Flexible work days and hours that may fit your schedule.
  • Every intern is assigned to work alongside a mentor teacher.
  • Get paid and earn experience toward your teacher permit (Child Development Teacher Permit or Child Development Associate Teacher Permit). 
  • You only need to work at least two workdays per week for 3 hours per day for 50 days.

WHAT IS THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT TEACHER PERMIT?

The California Child Development Teacher Permit (CDP) authorizes individuals to care for, instruct, and guide children in a child development program. This permit also allows the holder to oversee a CDP Associate Teacher, an Assistant, and an Aide. To become qualified for this permit, applicants must meet all the requirements outlined on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website.

WHAT IS THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE TEACHER PERMIT?

The California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit authorizes holders to look after, teach and guide children in a child development program. This permit also allows individuals to manage an assistant and an aide. To become eligible for this permit, applicants must fulfill either of the requirements options outlined on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website.

HOW TO GET FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE FROM THE CA DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE?

To obtain Fingerprint Clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) requires submitting fingerprints to be reviewed by the DOJ, as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), in order to receive credentials, certificates, permits, or waivers issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

HOW TO GET A CERTIFICATE OF CLEARANCE (COC)?

To obtain a Certificate of Clearance (COC), you must first go to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website. Once you are there, click on Educator Login. Then, log in to your profile on the Educator Login by entering your username and password. 
If this is your first time using the site, after you click on Educator Login, you will need to click “Create Educator Account”, and continue following the instructions to apply for a COC. You must answer all Professional Fitness Questions and complete the Oath and Affidavit section before submitting payment and completing the process.
