Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Yolo County has adopted Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) as a critical framework to support students' behavioral and emotional needs. With the support of the Placer County Office of Education, the Yolo County Office of Education serves as the training hub for coaches, school teams, and district teams to develop their tiered systems of behavioral interventions in order to systemically acknowledge positive student and staff behavior, use data to evaluate intervention effectiveness, and address inequities in the application of student discipline policies.

Course: Designing and Improving Tier 1 PBIS Systems
School teams will build the foundation for PBIS for all students and staff. A representative team from the school site attends the training and then leads Tier 1 implementation at the site. The sessions will focus on:
- Prevention
- Establishing and teaching expectations
- Data-based decision making
- Creating positive relationships
- Responding to unwanted behavior.
